Tongue tie treatment is a simple procedure designed to free restricted tongue movement in babies, often helping with feeding or speech development.
Tongue tie, or ankyloglossia, occurs when the strip of skin beneath the tongue (the frenulum) is too short or tight. This can limit the tongue’s range of motion and may lead to difficulties with breastfeeding and bottle feeding.
Bronagh developed a special interest in tongue tie after her own children required treatment. She has trained in assessment and treatment with Martin Curran, a leading expert in this field, to provide safe, evidence-based care for babies and infants.
The procedure itself is quick and usually well tolerated. It involves a simple release of the frenulum using sterile equipment in a calm and clinical environment. Most babies can feed straight after, and many parents notice an immediate improvement.
